Mangosteen juice is not only popular for its sweet, sharp taste but also for its rejuvenating and restorative properties. When bought commercially, it is fairly expensive because a mangosteen tree takes up to 15 years to yield fruit. With a flavor mildly reminiscent of strawberry and a hint of Kiwi and grapes, it is extracted from the round, juicy pulp as well as its rind and seeds.

The juice is rich in vitamins B and C as well as phosphorus, iron and calcium. It therefore has a number of medicinal applications. For instance, it is highly effective in the treatment of arthritis, eczema and the early stages of fibromyalgia. Additionally, it an excellent diet supplement for people who have diabetes. Mangosteen juice is highly recommended as fluid replenishment in most types of diarrhea because of the inherent properties of the dye in its rind (pericarp) and high content of tannic acid.

Studies have revealed that people who ingest mangosteen juice on a regular basis generally enjoy holistic or all-round good health. Its beneficial effects are said to be noticeable in as little as four weeks of continued use. However, it is almost certain that mangosteen juice despite the hype surrounding it does not have any miraculous curative powers.

Mangosteen juice is rich in the group of antioxidants known as xanthones and may therefore have an anti-aging effect too. There is, to date, no evidence suggesting that it is of higher nutritional or re-hydrating value than other supplements on the market, and it is also fairly expensive.

It is an accepted medical fact that the ingestion of antioxidants promotes overall metabolic resistance to disease by boosting the absorption of vitamins. On the other hand, these properties of mangosteen juice have been not studied fully, since serious research on it has only been ongoing since 1955.
