Hikes in the Beautiful Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone Park is located not in just one state but three Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Spread out over 2.2 million acres, this national park is considered one of the premier wilderness areas in the United States. Here, you will enjoy magnificent scenery and a large variety of birds and wildlife. The more than 1,100 miles of trails makes this the perfect area for hiking enthusiasts.

Even with trails that are simple to reach and well-groomed, and you have park rangers watching over you, you still have to be aware of weather that can change in an instant, rocks that may roll and hurt you, and unpredictable animals. Its imperative that you respect the wilderness and follow the parks rules. Knowing about the potential risks and sticking to the guidelines, should have you all set to face any situation you might encounter in the park.

Day hikes are among the favorite things to do when you visit Yellowstone. You will have your pick of hiking trails, and can easily find one that will fit your level of expertise and endurance. On your way out, visit the park rangers where you can get a map and information about the trails. They will help you choose a trail as well as reminding you to watch for bears, sudden storms, and possible fires. You should automatically take a first aid kit, sunscreen, rain gear, and bug repellant anytime you hike.

In Yellowstone Park you wont need to apply for a hiking permit. There are some national parks where you must do so. As you explore the trails, you may end up in remote regions of the park. Some of the trails are easy hiking and not at all steep. Others will be more challenging. Give yourself a heads-up on weather and trails before you start that hike.

Above all, dont forget your camera. Youll want lots of pictures of this scenic wilderness. The park is truly magnificent and youll find yourself in beautiful valleys, expanses of wildflowers, and atop small passes. You will undoubtedly see some signs of wildlife and your pictures will remind you of this enchanting experience for the rest of your life.
