??Yeah, I??m a thrill seeker, but crikey, education??s the most important thing.?? - Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter
As you cross the river, two beady eyes emerge from the dark, murky water - frightening and intimidating, yet surprisingly enigmatic. The pair moves on the water??s surface, like tiny marbles being swept away by a current. But you know that these mobile circles aren??t tiny, little play things; but rather, they are significant hints as to who owns them.
Just then, a leathery, bumpy snout emerges from the water and releases those beady eyes from the thin film, watery surface.
You see him. He sees you.
How do you get across to the other side?
Simple.
You jump over him.
You jump over this croc.
You jump over this obstacle.
But you just don??t jump over him without anything on hand, without an assurance that you will survive and get to the other side. You just don??t jump without thinking.
You need a plan. You need a guarantee.
Just like in any other guarantee, to be able to study in Australia, one must possess a student visa.

Student Visa Requirements
To be granted a student visa, you must also:
o be accepted for a full-time registered* course;
o be able to support yourself while you study;
o make arrangements for acceptable overseas student health insurance;
o arrange for any accompanying school-aged dependants (aged 5 to 18) to be educated, and have official confirmation of their enrolment (if you are a student with an Australian Government scholarship, you will not have to meet this requirement);
o meet Australian health and character requirements.
* A registered course is an education or training course offered by an Australian education provider who is registered with the Australian Government to offer courses to overseas students. The Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs (DETYA) can provide details of registered courses.
The Australian government may not grant you a student visa if any of these requirements are not met.
Do what needs to be done.
Plan.
Think.
Jump over the croc and get to the other side.

Author Bio:
Nikki Alfonso
Graduating in 2004 from Ateneo de Manila with a major in AB Communication and a minor in AB History, Nikki Alfonso lives for the written word. Her passion for writing began with a poem she composed about an elephant and a red rubber ball when she was 7 years old. From then on, she became fixated with words, using them to move readers, to expressively get her message across and to make up stories with her friends about imaginary rendezvous with matinee idols and boy bands. She had her first taste of being a salaried writer in January 2004 when she began writing for Eversun Software Corporation. Prompted by the need to find a job after graduation, her love of putting pen to paper and entertainment, she decided to take on a full-time job in television as a creative staff member and writer wherein she would be paid for daydreaming and telling stories. Wanting to give back to a cause close to her heart, she also writes for JADE -- an online magazine seeking to showcase English-speaking Asian women as intelligent and well-accomplished movers and shakers in their respective fields. Nikki believes that in order for one to be truly called a writer, the ability to empathize and the potency to create with heart are pre-requisites. Flunk in those departments and you don't get a diploma.
